Event date: Monday, April 06, 2009, from 2:41 PM to 2:41 PM

Microsoft is investigating new reports of a vulnerability in Microsoft Office PowerPoint that could allow remote code execution if a user opens a specially crafted PowerPoint file.

As of April 6, 2009, there is not a Microsoft fix to protect against this vulnerability. It affects Office 2000 Service Pack 3, Office XP SP3, Office 2003 SP3, and Office 2004 for Mac, Microsoft said in an advisory. Office 2007 is unaffected.

Users are asked to not open unsolicited PowerPoint files from unknown people such as from an email attachment or web page.
